I didn’t know prior to my weight loss surgery that rapid weight loss has some consequences to the gallbladder. And today I discovered:
10 to 25% of obese people who lose weight rapidly and are on a very low calorie diet (800 calories or less) develop gallstones that do not produce any symptoms.
Luckily, mine did. And along with many large gallstones, my gallbladder was infected.
A surgeon was called in to remove my gallbladder and who had experience in gallbladder removals in Lap-Band patients. I guess there are a lot of us. So today I sit 1 day post-op gallbladder surgery. Check out the video for information on my symptoms, what happened, and how it happened so quickly!!
