Post-Op Lap-Band 14 Weeks

Wow, this is a late update. My schedule was very thrown off by working which I also address in this video.

Here are a few other topics: protein powers… they used to be nasty for me then Mardi gave me ideas of good ones, my latest fill of an additional .5 cc bringing me to 3.5 cc, and my latest mini-goal of reaching 70 lbs lost by my daughters 5th birthday on September 18th.

So this is my first week working and I have a question for anyone who works the grave yard shift — what does your schedule look like? Do you stick to eating only 3 times per day or do you find that you need to eat more often?

Besides from starting work, I want to talk a bit like having the support of your spouse or partner and making a good food choice when I wanted something else.

With measurements, I have decided to go once per month. Because I am not losing inches as rapidly as I did at the start of this journey, the low numbers have become a bit discouraging, even with my high rate of weight loss. I feel like I did a good job tracking for the last 12 weeks and I’ll have a big surprise each month when I take measurements again.

I was just running through this week and surprised to find that I had such a good loss. I’ve been following the rules and paying attention so I guess that always helps.

Again, my apologies to everyone that this video is late. I’ll ditch the excuses next week!! LOL

Post-Op Lap-Band 11 Weeks

On Friday I got my second fill of 1 cc bringing my current fill to 3 cc. What I have found now, with a second fill, is that I do not lose as much weight as I normally do when I have had a fill that same week. My conclusion is that my body doesn’t really appreciate the 24 hour liquid diet and therefore, it holds on to what it’s got. I’m OK with that though as long as my loss continues in the weeks that follow. Now having said that, I’m still down 2 lbs this week as compared to the .5 lbs loss I had at my first fill.

In other news, I’ve been changing up my workouts and I’m not sure that’s really been helpful for me. In the time it takes me to do a 30 minute workout with Leslie, I burn the same amount of calories as if I do a 60 minute treadmill walk. Seems to me that my time is better spent doing two 30 minute workouts with Leslie and burning more calories. But I’m pushing it hard. In October I’ve committed to doing a walk for breast cancer; I’m very excited about this event.

GOAL! GOAL! GOAL!

I said I wanted to lose 50 lbs by my niece Sydney’s 1st birthday. Today is Syd’s birthday and I have lost 50.6 lbs. I DID IT and I’m on top of the world.

Other than reaching goal I answer my most common questions. What am I eating? How do I track my food? So here’s a look into my SparkPeople.com tracking, a quick go over of what I’m eating, and how I keep my routine.

As I said in my last video, my sister came to visit and was here from Wednesday to Sunday. During this time I was able to workout but not nearly as much as I normally do. I also got off track with my water intake and did not track my food as often as I normally do. For those reasons I strongly feel my weight loss suffered this week. But I understand that I am not someone that does well off my schedule regardless of what kind of schedule it is. So I need to better prepare myself for longer family visits.

Lap-Band Fill/Adjustment

This is my very first fill! A huge thanks to Dr. Tice at Nevada Surgical Weight Control Center for allowing me to film.

For those who have not yet had a fill — do NOT stress. This is simple and completely painless – I felt nothing and still don’t!

Post-Op Lap-Band 7 Weeks

It’s been another great week. I’m really excited about the inches that I have lost and I’m just 7 lbs away from making that first goal of reaching 50 lbs lost by nieces 1st birthday on August 10th. I’m confident that I’ll reach that goal. This week I have also learned a few things about my own calorie needs and have changed my workout some. Tonight I’ll also be attending my second Lap-Band support group at my surgeon’s office. I’m looking forward to reporting my loss thus far!

Post-Op Lap-Band 6 Weeks

This week’s weight loss was incredible. And I’m starting to believe that I may actually hit my first goal in 3 weeks of losing 50 lbs by my nieces 1st birthday. I have just 3 weeks and 11.8 lbs to get to that mark and I think I can do it. When I made the goal, it seemed huge and not really possible but I’m doing it.

Beyond physical changes, I am noticing that things I used to dread doing I do without thinking about it now. For example, I hate the summer heat and try to stay in doors as much as possible. But my daughter’s 5th birthday is September 18th and I’m throwing a huge party. The shopping that I have started doing in preparation has been a piece of cake, even when it’s over 110 outside. Normally I would grumble and then do it… now, no problem. I’m up, dressed, and anxious to go out there and get going!
